UA-43200976-1
Germany was extremely reliant on railway networks to move equipment, weapons and supplies across vast distances during WWII. An important type of railcar to keep equipment moving was the open goods wagon – given the nomenclature Omm. The Omm was designed from scratch in 1937-38 to carry cargo (e.g. trucks and armored vehicles) weighing up to 24.5 tons, and its load deck was 8.72m long. Construction began in 1939, with 73,850 wagons produced in three variants.
